Forever Fused Glass Flowers

Explore the art of fused glass with an experienced glass artist new to the Holland Center!  Students in this two day class will complete two beautiful and dramatic flowers.

The first day of class (Sept. 20), you will be designing, and arranging the glass to form a flower.    Once this is done, the flowers will be put in a kiln to fuse, then slumped into a mold that will create the flower shape (a total of 48 hours in the kiln).The second day of class (Sept. 27), the flower will be assembled to give it a stem and gold or silver paint can be added as an embellishment.  This class will last about 2 hours.  Flowers will be ready to take home at the end of the second week.

There will be a $10 materials fee to be given to the instructor at the first class. 

Giant Paper Flower: Rose

How would you like to spend a fun afternoon crafting with paper and a glue gun!  In this brand new class led by Mimi Damrauer, you will learn how to construct a beautiful elegant giant paper flower that you can display on its own or as a part of a flower wall.  Think of the possibilities! What a wonderful accent to any room!

Gourd Doll

Create a unique doll, perfect for the Fall season, using something that most people have never worked with: Gourds! 

Darlene, your expert instructor, (you many have seen her at many of our shows), says "In this class you will create a detailed Gourd Doll or as I call them my girls with Attitude. 

​I'll supply the gourd, mini pots and gourd base. I will have a limited number of tools available to share including Dremel tools. I will supply masks, gloves, paints, tape, stain, feathers and beads that you can use to make your creation". 

Designs can be created with a wood burner or tape. Then dyed.  So take a chance with gourds, and you will be surprised! 

Please wear old clothes and bring lunch or snack and something to drink. This is an all-day class, from 9:00 - 3:00. No experience necessary!

Gelli Printing 101:Basics Class

Have you every created collage papers?  They are wonderfully useful for cardmaking, journaling, bookmaking, Washi tape ( a multi purpose type of masking tape you can use in your journals, artworks, cards and more), or any art projects! Learn how to make gorgeous and quick collage papers using a soft Gelli plate. Make quality prints with inexpensive materials.  No experience necessary. Once you have taken this class, Mimi will be offering more advanced classes. 

You will learn how to add texture and develop your images with rubber stamps and basic texture tools. 

Mimi Damrauer is a local working artist, who has been teaching classes in the Valley for years. Her work has been featured in Crate and Barrel and is collected for private and corporate collections. 

Please bring an apron to class our wear "art clothes". Also bring $10 materials fee to the class. 

Fall Prevention Awareness

The number one cause of Level I Traumas in an ER is injuries resulting from a fall, and these injuries can be very serious, possibly resulting in death.

Our Falls Prevention Awareness program is a one hour class introducing and discussing the causes of falls, the results of falls and methods of the prevention of falls.  Please join us for this informative safety class - for your health!

Joe Meier, your instructor, is affiliated with Honor Health, which is a valued community partner and resource.  There are six hospitals, three of which are Arizona designated and American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 trauma centers.  We also have a new state of the art, first of its kind combination satellite emergency room/urgent care as well as over 65 medical and specialty treatment groups.

We are happy to accept donations at the door ($10 suggested).

Stop the Bleed

This class is all about bleeding control for massive hemorrhage.  It is a national initiative from the American College of Surgeons to help all members of the community be able to help each other in case of a bleeding emergency.  Topics covered will include a short power point presentation and lots of hands on skills practice.

This class will be presented by an HonorHealth Trauma Services paramedic.  The presenter is a 38 year veteran of emergency medical services, a 25 year fire department special operations veteran.  He is currently resides within the Trauma Outreach/Injury Prevention division at the Military Partnership.

This class will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 5 from 2:30 - 4:00 pm.  $10 suggested donation at the door. Please register so that we know how many people to accept. 


Gourd Luminaries

 Join artist, Darlene Saucedo, as she teaches the skills to create a beautiful Gourd Luminary. With the lights off and the lamp on, transform any room into a desert sky full of stars! They make terrific night lights and are especially fun for childrens' rooms providing a magical experience.

This class will be on the front patio of The Holland Center if the weather cooperates or it will be in the Mesquite Art Studio.

Class cost is $125 and includes all supplies.

The following items will be supplied for the class: one small / medium sized Cannon Ball Gourd cut cleaned and project ready, one lamp base, and electrical cord. Available tools include: drill bits, mask, gloves, paints, tape, stain for bases or black spray paint, and pictures of patterns you can use or create your own.

This is an all day class, which will go from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Please wear old clothes and bring lunch or snack and something to drink. And bring your imagination to make this one-of-a-kind, amazing work of art!

Optic Cheese Plate

Perfect for gifts or entertaining!  In this class the student will create a cheese plate – class time 2-3 hours. 

Create a unique and beautiful piece of functional art.  This class will demonstrate the unique properties of glass and heat.  Using glass squares of different thickness you will see how glass fuses to a thickness of ¼ inch.  Come create a piece of art. Cheese plate will measure approximately 8” x 8”.  Project will be ready for pick up the next week.
